Sarah J. Maas was born on March 5, 1986 in Manhattan, New York. She received a degree in creative writing and a minor in religious studies from Hamilton College. In April 2002, she began posting the first chapters of the rough draft of Throne of Glass on FictionPress.com and garnered a large online fan base. Her first book, Throne of Glass, was published in 2012. Her other works include A Faraway Land, Crown of Midnight, and A Court of Thorns and Roses. Her novels A Court of Mist and Fury, book 2 in the Throne of Glass series, Heir of Fire, book 3 in the Throne of Glass series, and Empire of Fire, book 5 in the Throne of Glass series, and A Court of Wings and Ruin, book 3 in A Court of Thorns and Roses series made The New York Times Best Seller List.
