- About My Library
The Strahorn Library is the reference and research center of the Illinois Railway Museum.
We maintain many specialized collections of original railroad materials that are available for personal and scholarly research at the Strahorn.
The Strahorn Library is a non-circulating library, open by appointment only, to researchers and the general public.
Please make an appointment so that we can have appropriate materials and personnel available for your visit.
The Strahorn library, located in Marengo (west of the main IRM campus in Union) is staffed 100% by volunteers and is open Wednesdays 10:00am – 2:30pm.
Additionally, our Facebook page and our online catalog serve as an always-open guide to our resources and sampling of our collections.
The library gratefully accepts the collections of individuals, corporations and societies and has a very active accession and cataloging program.
