the first "sex scene" I've ever read and made me terrified of getting pregnant ( ) hell, once I was this far into the series it seemed silly not to push on to the end. Twilight 4 BREAKING DAWN has been a fair read however not as good as new moon or eclipse which had you hooked from start to finish. B.D started off icky with the offset of character but it picked up at the next chapter, and gradually picked up as it went along. when i got to the part from Jacobs pov it made the whole book more alive seeing outside of Bellas fairy tale lifted the book allot and although there was a character introduced that i immediately thought would kill the book (possible reaction because i read negative spoilers from the american amazon site which looked at the book with more reality than fantasy) but i pushed the negative thoughts aside and read with open mind and i must say S.M strange imagination made the whole story tie up nicely.-and i don't even like happy ever afters- i was disappointing that i was deprived of action i hoped would happen but it wasn't a huge disappointment The two star review is for how anti climatic the books as a series were, never were the main characters sacrificed and always a nobody got the blunt end of the stick, the books were predictable and quite frustrating.
And so the pabulum slips down, spoonful by spoonful, with every now and then a neat idea, an unspoken hint of untold perversity, an almost subliminal flash of something nasty. Over 754 pages, the answers come almost too easily, but not quickly. Certain elements of BREAKING DAWN are perplexing, even off-putting --- particularly the scenes of sex, pregnancy and childbirth. But it's nearly impossible to please everyone --- especially when so much of the series' drama has relied on the tension of Bella's choice between two very different but desirable lovers. Readers who are able, eventually, to gain some perspective will find much to redeem BREAKING DAWN, particularly its new insights into Jacob's inner life as well as its neat resolution to several of the series' pressing conflicts and its realistic (or at least as realistic as a vampire romance can get) portrayal of the complexities and joys of married life. Although eighteen-year-old Bella joins the dark but seductive world of the immortals by marrying Edward the vampire, her connection to the powerful werewolf Jacob remains unsevered. No library descriptions found. |
