Fiction
About a girl that lives in a small apartment with her family (maybe mother and no father? Definitely a brother) and wants to have some privacy of her own, so she tries multiple methods to get some, ex. Sleeping under the kitchen table with a blanket over top of it, but giving up on those methods due to discomfort and, in the case of the kitchen table, a spider crawling across her face. I believe the end of the book is her mom helping her make a folding privacy screen with a fabric she chose herself.
Read it about 6-7 years ago, probably published sometime in the 90s or 2000s
Intended for slightly older children, around 10 or 11
Read it in the United States
I know the color purple was somehow involved, and that the girl's name might have been Violet (Violet may have been in the title? Unsure). The book was fairly short, might've been set in a big city of some sort
I did try searching for books with Violet in the title, but to no avail :T
