One of those right frame of mind shindigs, but to be honest, I've heard of worse ideas than Bokononism. ( ) awesome! Vonnegut kept me "sane" during my late adolesence, early young adulthood. My first Vonnegut. I really enjoyed this book! It has an interesting subject and ideas. I found it thought provoking. A book of lies, that sets out to be about the day the bomb was dropped on Hiroshima and ends up being a story about what initially seems to be a example of the scientists crazy genius random ideas. Science and religion the effects of both, how people react and follow. A fun read. I would reread and recommend reading this book! My favorite Vonnegut book, hands down.
"Cat's Cradle" is an irreverent and often highly entertaining fantasy concerning the playful irresponsibility of nuclear scientists. Like the best of contemporary satire, it is work of a far more engaging and meaningful order than the melodramatic tripe which most critics seem to consider "serious." Cat's Cradle is Vonnegut's satirical commentary on modern man and his madness. An apocalyptic tale of this planet's ultimate fate, it features a midget as the protagonist; a complete, original theology created by a calypso singer; and a vision of the future that is at once blackly fatalistic and hilariously funny.
