This book has thriller, mystery, and a high-tension character study all balled into one, and kept me on the edge of my seat. The links to Guarding Morgan, the first book in the series, were fascinating, and the overarching mystery as to why Elisabeth was killed moved a little closer to being solved. Not too close, though, there is plenty left for the next few books. Joseph, a SEAL on active duty, is Elisabeth’s stepbrother and as soon as he hears of her death (upon returning to the US), he vows to find out who did it and make them pay. His determination is as unbreakable as his arrogance and the verbal and physical clashes with Dale are fascinating to watch. Dale also wants to find out who killed Elisabeth, but he is also concerned with the bigger picture. Since he is not quite as cold as Joseph, and less prepared to go to the extreme, he spends half his time trying to stop Joseph from being involved at all. By the time he understands and accepts that this is pointless, he actually needs Joseph’s help. The two men spend most of the book in almost mortal opposition, snapping and yelling and attempting to out-macho each other. The underlying sexual attraction and tension just builds and builds, and when it comes to a head – well, saying the sparks fly is a pitiful understatement. If you like stories with a lot of mystery, tough men who don’t want to admit they are attracted to each other but cannot help themselves, and of men in uniform with a need to protect civilians are your thing, you will probably like this book. NOTE: This book was provided by Silver Publishing for the purpose of a review on Rainbow Book Reviews. 3.5 I really enjoyed this book. The opening chapters were really good. I feel the ending was a bit rushed. I really like the two MCs in this segment and hope to see more for them. This is a kind of a sequel to Guarding Morgan but after Morgan and Nik became a couple, it's time for his mate Dale to be convinced, too, that love is possible. That happens when he meets the brother of the killed woman. The two men are quite different but still, they have a lot in common. But nothing with the two guys on the cover of that book! What did the publisher think? That this is a farmer's sex story with guns??? no reviews | add a review

It has been a while since I read the first one, and I really felt that I should have read it again first. It took me a little bit to get into the swing of it, but once I was there it didn't let me go until I finished. It definitely won't take as long to read the next one that's for sure! ( )
